Pseudowoordenboek

Sommige Engelse woorden halen nooit het woordenboek en toch worden ze veel gebruikt. Het gaat om slang, webtaal of informeel taalgebruik. Liefst 17761 zulke woorden staan nu verzameld op pseudodictionary.com.

Drie voorbeelden:

a aardvark - Used mostly by the southern communities of Arkansas, and does not include "an" in front. Describes the contentedness of an individual.
e.g., "So, Joe Bob, how you feelin'?" "Oh, you know. About A Aardvark."

o'besity, macbesity - Two words relating to the current debate about fast-food causing obesity in children.
e.g., The Irish form is O'Besity and the Scottish is MacBesity.

zapf - To render text meaningless or illegible. With reference to the Zapf Dingbats font found in some word processing software.
e.g., Tom's carefully prepared documents were summarily zapfed by the editorial brilliance of his manager.
